Fee Slab | Calculated Amount (Rs.) |
---|
Court fees are required when initiating legal action in Nepal’s judicial system. Defined by the Civil Procedure Code, 2074, these fees vary based on the claim amount, type of case, and the nature of legal relief sought. Individuals in financial hardship may be eligible for court fee exemptions.
Key Highlights
- Fees must be paid at the time of filing or the case may be dismissed.
- Structured slab rates apply based on claim value.
- Flat fees are set for specific case types (like divorce, eviction, etc.).
- Financially weak individuals can petition for court fee exemptions.
- Appeals and revisions include additional percentage-based fees.

Waiver of Court Fees
If a party cannot afford to pay court fees due to financial hardship, they may petition the court for a waiver or deferment. Upon verification, the judge may allow the case to proceed and the fees to be collected later, in part or full. A recommendation from the Local Level Office may strengthen the petition.
